At Bake, Table & Tea, you don’t just walk into a store – you step into a living love letter to home, heritage and hospitality. Tucked into the heart of historic Bathurst, at 76 George Street, this enchanting destination invites you to pause, to taste, to gather – and to fall just a little in love with the everyday again. 

Founded in 2015 by passionate local Mel Kelly, Bake, Table & Tea was born from a desire to bring warmth, beauty and belonging to Bathurst – through the joy of baking, the elegance of curated tableware and the comfort of a shared pot of tea. What began as a dream to offer something more meaningful has grown into a cherished local institution – a place where stories are shared over scones, where gifts are chosen with care and where tea is always poured with intention. 

Step inside, and you’ll find more than just shelves lined with kitchen treasures and artisan pieces. You’ll find a world of sensory delight – from the scent of freshly baked goods still warm from the oven, to the clink of teacups in the serene Tea Gallery Café nestled at the back. Whether you’re indulging in a Devonshire tea, browsing homewares that tell a story, or catching up with a friend under the glow of Australian art-lined walls, this is a place where time slows down – and connection takes centre stage. 

At Bake, Table & Tea, we celebrate the craft of hospitality and the magic of handmade. Our café offerings are prepared on-site with heart: preservative-free, made-from-scratch, and often gluten-free, with a strong emphasis on organic and free-range ingredients. We brew over 50 specialty teas, proudly serve Will & Co coffee, and are best known for our pillowy scones, served with our own jam and luscious vanilla cream – a treat that’s fast becoming legendary in Bathurst and beyond. 

More than a café. More than a store. Bake, Table & Tea is a celebration of community – a place that uplifts, gives back, and welcomes everyone as part of the story. With 26 women employed across retail and hospitality, half of them under 25, we’re proud to be a training ground, a safe space, and a shining example of what’s possible when heart leads business. 

Through every challenge – from drought to pandemic to personal trials – Bake, Table & Tea has stood resilient, supported by the people who believe in its purpose. What we’ve built isn’t just a business; it’s a Bathurst icon in the making. 

And Bathurst? It’s not just where we are – it’s who we are. This town has a way of finding its way into your soul. For Mel, who arrived for a year in the ’90s and never left, Bathurst has become the grounding force behind it all – the muse, the canvas, and the community that holds everything together. From the energy of George Street to the peaceful villages that surround it, there’s a spirit here that’s impossible to resist.
