Where Bathurst’s stories gather
Set on the bush-clad slopes of Mount Panorama / Wahluu, Bathurst Goldfields Resort occupies one of the most iconic addresses in regional Australia — Conrod Straight. Here, the stories of Bathurst unfold side-by-side: gold rush ambition, country hospitality, community gathering and the quiet hum of a place that has always known how to welcome people in.
Spread across more than 11 hectares of native bushland, Bathurst Goldfields Resort is a destination shaped by history and purpose. From education and accommodation to events, celebrations and shared experiences, the site has evolved over decades while remaining deeply connected to the land it sits on.
A place shaped by history
The Goldfields has lived many lives, but its heart was firmly established in 1991, when it grew into a destination for learning, accommodation and events. The creation of the Colonial Re-enactment Village brought Bathurst’s gold rush era to life, welcoming generations of school students for immersive, hands-on learning that connected them to the stories that shaped the region.
Over time, accommodation lodges, cabins and motel-style rooms were added, along with function spaces that hosted weddings, conferences, community celebrations and school camps. Today, Bathurst Goldfields Resort continues to evolve — not by losing its past, but by carefully building on it.
An experience found nowhere else
Staying at Bathurst Goldfields Resort means staying inside Bathurst’s identity. Positioned directly on Mount Panorama, guests are immersed in a place that is recognised around the world for motorsport, yet equally defined by community, heritage and landscape.
During Bathurst’s world-famous racing events, the site comes alive with energy. Outside of race weeks, it offers something rarer — space, stillness and a strong sense of belonging. It’s a setting that can’t be replicated, where learning, gathering and celebrating are inseparable from the land itself.
Accommodation, learning and gathering
Bathurst Goldfields Resort offers large-scale group accommodation for up to 300 guests, supported by conference facilities, wedding and event venues, commercial catering, a fully licensed bar, education programs, school camp lodging, tours and a souvenir shop.
It is a place designed for people to come together — whether for education, celebration, reflection or connection.
Caretakers of a significant place
When Steve and Sue took custodianship of Bathurst Goldfields Resort in early 2025, their vision was clear: protect what already made the place special, while thoughtfully preparing it for its next chapter.
Rather than seeing themselves as owners, they see themselves as caretakers of a site with deep historical and community significance. Their approach has been one of listening first — understanding what worked, respecting what came before, and making careful upgrades that enhance comfort, function and experience without erasing character.
Recent improvements include accommodation upgrades, new outdoor gathering spaces, enhanced natural landscaping and revitalised event and wedding venues — all designed to support community use and long-term sustainability.
Measured by people, not just progress
Success at Bathurst Goldfields Resort isn’t measured only in bookings or events, but in people — a team that feels proud to work here, guests who feel genuinely welcomed, and a community that continues to see the Goldfields as part of its story.
It’s a place where school groups still learn by doing, where weddings and celebrations unfold against bushland and history, and where locals and visitors alike feel connected to something bigger than themselves.
A living part of the Bathurst story
Connection to place here comes from the land, its stories and the people who care for it. From the warmth of the Bathurst community to the enduring pull of Mount Panorama, the Goldfields reflects the spirit of the region — grounded, generous and quietly remarkable.
As a proud Bathurst & Backroads partner, Bathurst Goldfields Resort plays an active role in sharing the region’s stories and inviting others to experience Bathurst in a genuine, meaningful way.
Throughout the year, the resort hosts a range of public events, including school holidays tours with hands-on gold panning experiences, hosted dinners with live music and open days, ensuring the gates remain open not just to visitors, but to the local community as well.
